For the exhibition floor at ESCRS Congress 2026, we’ve partnered with GES to use Rewind, a circular event carpet designed to cut waste while bringing the bright ESCRS colours to life.
Rewind is manufactured from a single material, 100% polypropylene, and is completely latex-free, which makes it far easier to recycle at end of life than traditional cord carpet.
The manufacturing process removes water entirely, cutting production energy by around 85%, and independent analysis puts Rewind’s manufacturing emissions at roughly 55% lower than standard event carpet. It’s also lighter than traditional carpet, meaning more can be transported per shipment, reducing delivery-related emissions.
Rewind is a zero-to-landfill product: once the Congress ends, the carpet is recycled into a high-grade material that goes on to have a second life, rather than being sent to waste.
This decision directly supports our Towards Zero Waste KPIs: to eliminate 90% of single-use plastics, polystyrene, and PVC; reduce landfill waste to below 10% of total waste generated; and achieve a recycling rate of over 60% across all waste streams. Results related to waste diversion and recycling rates will be measured and reported in November 2026 as part of our post-Congress sustainability performance review.

London’s tap water is safe to drink and is subject to strict drinking water quality standards.
To make refilling easy and help reduce reliance on single-use bottles and cups, more than 20 water refill stations will be available throughout Excel London during the Congress.
At ESCRS Congress 2025 in Copenhagen, 26,799 bottles and cans were collected through Denmark’s national deposit return system. This year in London, we are continuing to encourage responsible choices by making refilling readily available across the Congress.

Getting to London
For delegates travelling from mainland Europe, Eurostar offers a lower-carbon alternative to flying into London. Choosing rail instead of a short-haul flight, where practical, is one of the ways delegates can reduce the travel-related footprint of their journey to ESCRS 2026.
Getting to the venue and around London
Excel London is directly served by the Elizabeth line and DLR. Custom House provides access to the west entrance, while Prince Regent DLR station serves the east entrance. London City Airport is also the closest airport to Excel, accessible by a short journey on public transport.
The Elizabeth line and DLR provide fast and convenient connections to Excel from across London. Choose public transport where possible and make your journey to the Congress part of your Mission Zero contribution.
