Venue - Excel London
Located on the Royal Victoria Dock in East London, just five minutes from London City Airport and well connected by the Elizabeth line and DLR, Excel London is one of Europe’s largest exhibition and convention venues. As part of ADNEC Group, Excel champions a vision of responsible events, placing climate action and community impact at the heart of its operations.
The venue holds ISO 14001 environmental management certification, and has achieved Planet Mark certification and CarbonSAVER Triple Crown of Sustainability status for its carbon, water and waste management. Excel is also a signatory of the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge.
Towards Net-Zero
Excel’s Net Zero Transition Plan, published in 2025, sets out its commitment to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2045.
What does this mean during your time at ESCRS Congress 2026? Look out for some of the venue’s sustainability measures in action:
- Renewable electricity: All electricity consumed at Excel is matched with Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).
- Zero waste to landfill: Excel has sent zero waste to landfill for over a decade, with food waste also processed through one of the UK’s largest on-site wormeries.
- Smarter water use: Water-saving technology across the venue helps significantly reduce water consumption each year.
- A greener environment: Look out for Excel’s living wall along the promenade, home to more than 9,000 plants and designed to support air quality and biodiversity.
Catering - Excel Hospitality
As part of our Mission Zero initiative, we have worked closely with Excel London Hospitality to design a catering experience that aligns with our sustainability goals, offering nutritious, high-quality food while supporting local communities and reducing waste. By making sustainable choices, we ensure a healthier, climate-friendly approach to catering at ESCRS 2026.
For ESCRS Congress 2026:
- 50% of food served is vegetarian.
- 90% of all produce is sourced from the UK.
- 90% of single-use plastic is eliminated.
- 100% seasonal sourcing across all menus.
